yOUTH vOLUNTEER Program
The Youth Volunteer program is open to those in grades 10-12 who are attending school.
Volunteering in a hospital can be a very rewarding experience. As well as the satisfaction you receive from helping others, you may also gain insights into the medical field as a possible career choice.
The Powell River Health-Care Auxiliary offers scholarships to participants of the Youth Volunteer Program who meet the requirements.
You must attend all orientation and training sessions, and accept your assignments in good faith. We ask for a 50 hour commitment. You should realize, volunteering is rewarding, but it is work!
Interviews will be arranged with you on a one to one basis with the Convener. A parent/guardian must accompany you to this interview. It is mandatory you and your parent attend this interview session before you are eligible to join the Youth Volunteer Program.
You can pick up an application/information package from our Gift Shop in the hospital, from Brooks school, or you can print out the application online, and turn the completed application into the Gift Shop. Upon admittance into the program, a smock will be provided to you and must be worn when volunteering, then returned when your volunteer work is completed at the end of the program.
This program runs from September to June every year.

The Youth Volunteers also decorate Christmas trees and
put up decorations in our hospital at Christmas.
Bottles and cans are collected monthly from Willingdon Creek and the ECU and the funding is used to buy Christmas gifts for residents.
