The Youth Volunteer program is open to girls and boys between the ages of 14 – 18 who are attending school.

Volunteering in a hospital can be a very rewarding experience.  As well as the satisfaction you receive from helping others, you may also gain insights into the medical field as a possible career choice.

The Powell River Health-Care Auxiliary offers scholarships to participants of the Youth Volunteer Program who meet the requirements.

You must attend all orientation and training sessions, and accept your assignments in good faith. We ask for a 50 hour commitment per year. You should realize, volunteering is rewarding, but it is work!

Interviews will be arranged with you on a one to one basis with the Convener.  A parent/guardian must accompany you to this interview.  It is mandatory you and your parent attend this interview session before you are eligible to join the Youth Volunteer Program.

The program runs from September to June.  There is a $15.00 fee for your uniform which is required to be paid on the day of the interview.  Payment must be made by cheque to the Powell River Health-Care Auxiliary.  This cheque will be returned to you when you return the uniform.

You can pick up a complete application/information package from our Gift Shop in the hospital, or you can print out the application on line, and turn the completed application into the Gift Shop.
